Spent yesterday morning hanging 30 pictures in a barristers’ chambers- in preparation for this evening’s and last night’s drinks parties, at which the plan is to raise some money for Epic Arts whilst selling a few more Cambodia pictures. I did sell this one- I am pleased but of course it’s always one’s favourites that go first.
It’s interesting that the man who bought this did not do so because he had been to Cambodia or was a keen fisherman. Rather, it reminded him of his 3 sons, and he spoke of the Cambodian boys’ body language that somehow seems to him to be universal. I am pleased to have achieved that- there is or should be a sense drawing out something that speaks to everyone in my pictures, despite the starting point of very particular subject matter that is observed in a specific time and place. Good. Onwards, etc.
